I've always wanted a Media PC but I've never found a case I like enough. Now with the purchase of a 32" LCD TV I felt I needed something special. As The Shawshank Redemption is one of my all time favourite films; Redemption was born. Built with a Blu-Ray drive and a reasonably powerful GPU it will be perfect for those cold nights in for watching films or playing games.

Project λ-Zephyr

I was looking around for a case that met my requirements, and couldn't find anything that said "buy me!", so I decided it was time to embark on my first mod. Whilst struggling for some inspiration I belatedly discovered HL2 and Valve in general.

So the scene was set for Project λ-Zephyr, combining my case needs with my interpretation of some, frankly brilliant, art concept I set about an old Advent case I found callously discarded at work.

It has all got a little out of hand, and I've probably spent more than an adequate case would have cost, but it's a price I'm willing to pay because it's a joy to do, and hopefully it will look as good as it has been fun.

So I had an idea years ago to build a PC inside a toy car. I wanted something that looked like a car, not a PC. I built it in my head many times over, and kept looking for the right car body to work with, something sleek but not too flashy.

Then I found the perfect body, a Mustang GT. Looks and size were just right, and I figured I could install full size components, allowing for upgrades in the future.

So I bought it, stripped it down to the body and wheels, and began working on...

Aero Case Mod

EvilNeverDies writes -

It started off with the purchase of a brand new Samsung LCD TV with a DVI input. In the back of my mind I'd always wanted a media centre PC (it'd save space as I wouldn't have to keep DVD's all over the place, worry about them getting scratched etc.) and this seemed like a great opportunity (read: excuse) to finally get round to building one.

I'd done a few PC mods before (spray jobs, windows etc.) but this time I decided to go bigger. I'd always admired how shiny and sleek mac's looked, however I could never bring myself to buy one (it is after all, a mac). So I decided to try and build a small form factor pc case to house my media centre that retained a mac's sleek stylish look but remained proudly a pc.

Thus the idea for aero case mod was born. I took the colours from the window's logo and the new vista aero theme (hence the name) to build my pc out of a combination of mesh, 2mm & 3mm acrylic. I was 16 when I started the mod in summer '08 and managed to have it finished around febuary '09 (when I was 17).

When I was looking for a new case to house my PC nothing really grabbed me, so I thought, how difficult can it be to build my own?

Of course at that point I hadn't realised how much time, money and effort that required, especially when the idea was mentioned to mount a TFT in the front. Then halfway through the build I decided water-cooling was the way to go, more expense and half a build later it was finished.

The gloss black perspex on the outside really makes the TFT stand out and the reservoir that's half in - half out of the case really lets you know that it's definitely water-cooled

Koenigsegg CCXR was my first decently funded mod, it was going to be a complete overhaul of my Koenigsegg CCX computer.I started with the rather pricey Coolermaster Cosmos S and cram it full of expensive parts such as a brand new Q6600 G0, 4Gb’s of PC2-8500 Ballistix and a brand new XFX nVidia 9800GTX all on a Asus P5K Deluxe.

I then set to modding the case by making minor changes to enable the custom watercooling unit to be installed. Once installed and filled it ran efficiently enough to be able to heavily overclocked.

Once completed Koenigsegg CCXR was installed with Vista Ultimate 64-bit and so far has been the most stable computer/OS I have ever had and is still running flawlessly to this day.

Project: TheGreatSatan

I've always considered Dell an evil company. I work on fixing computers all the time and am often fixing Dells. They are well known for their horrible customer support and probably one of the first to move their support to India. I've never owned a Dell, but had a teacher who was throwing away an old Dell Dimension and knew I could make it look the way it was meant to be.

I had previously done an "Evil" mod called: Paradise Lost that I sold and knew this was my opportunity to build on my previous vision.

I actually have a little secret. When I was getting ready to cut the window on the left side of the case I went on ebay to buy the acrylic arm bones. I found someone who was selling actual arm bones from an estate auction. I bid on them for the case mod, but was outbid at the last minute! This case almost had real DNA!
